I feel like very few, or at least not many of the people of tumblr are aware of what is going on in my home country Hong Kong right now.

You guys gave alot of coverage and support when Scotland was voting for its independance, so I’m hoping you’ll all support the people of Hong Kong as well.

Right now, many of us are in a mass demonstration of pro-democracy against China. But wait a sec, isn’t Hong Kong China? This is a big misconception amongst foreigners, but please, we are far from being similar to China at all.

A little history class: Hong Kong used to be colonized by the British, and before you white-knights begin going all “them damn white racist ppl taking over another asian country” please don’t. We are thankful Britain took us under its wing and instilled in us values that I feel made us what we are today; that is, a democratic people with respect for free speech, amongst many things.

On the other hand, China is communist, with government controlled media and news. Google, instagram, facebook and many tv shows are blocked in China. It really is just a few steps from North Korea imo.

So what’s the problem here? Britain unfortunately had to hand back Hong Kong to China, but one of the requirements is that Hong Kong be allowed to operate as ‘one country two systems’, meaning Hong Kong should be able to have its own democratic government. But China has broken its promise. A while back, China tried to put a mandatory ‘national education’ curriculum in all our primary schools. We all know what that is; a communist brainwashing regime. And now, they have announced that in 2017 Hong Kong will be able to vote for its president; BUT only from 3 candidates hand picked by its PRO-BEIJING legislation.

As you can see, China is trying to takeover completely and turn us into another communist state.

Of course, we have taken to the streets. In a mirror if the Tiananmen protests, students have also stepped up to fight for our rights and our future, albeit in a peaceful protest of course. But the police force who have always been a friend of the people, are now responding with force, something that had never been done before in Hong Kong.

First it was pepperspray, then teargas. Then, armed forces came in qith rubber bullets. They warn they will come out with live ammunition soon if we do not get off the streets but the people continue to sit tight, disrupting businesses China so strive to takeover and make use of. It’s been 2 days now, but the people plan to continue at least till 1st October or even beyond. The significance is that October 1st is China’s National day, not ours, Hong Kong has not been granted it’s own National day.

Please spread the news. This is a country we’re talking about. These are my people.

You can join this event to wear yellow in support of my people on October 1st.

BB Gunman Fires at Jews in Baltimore on Rosh HaShanah →

I have close friends who live right near there.

I think it speaks to my current mental state vis-a-vis anti-semitism that I’m breathing a sigh of relief that it wasn’t a real gun instead of being outraged at the fact that a hate crime was perpetrated against Jews on Rosh HaShanah.

yes but take a step back and realize how truly fucked that is

"yes there was a gun crime but thank god it wasn’t a real gun this time, it’s better than normal!"

it’s not normal to be shot at at your site of worship, or at all

why is this our normal

It really shouldn’t be. It really shouldn’t. But between the shootings, the property damage, the assaults, the shops refusing Jewish customers, the removal of the Kosher sections, the continued denials that anti-semitism is an issue at all… My expectations for humane treatment have been severely lowered this year. This blog’s existence is largely a product of that frustration and disappointment. I’m worried that our “normal” is going to get a hell of a lot worse before a critical mass of goyim notice or care.

theyll never care, even if they ever notice

Get your first look at Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” now in production in San Francisco and in theaters July 17, 2015!

I have never been this unexcited for set pics :-/Without Janet, why the fuck even bother with this movie?

I… Cannot bring myself to care. At all.

I have seen every Marvel movie multiple times in theaters.  Want to know how many times I saw Avengers. Marvel?
13.
Thirteen times.  My friends and I had a contest, it was a JOKE.  ”How many times have you seen Avengers?”  Not ‘if.’  ’How many times?’
We’re all female, Marvel.  We’re girls.  And we weren’t really psyched by the lack of female characters you gave us, but you know what?  We were reassured by the ones you did.  We dealt.  We tolerated.  We waited patiently.
And when you announced Ant-Man, I told myself, at least we’ll get Jan.  Jan, who was one of the BEST parts of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.  Jan, the funny, sassy, fashion obsessed, girly-girl who wanted to be a hero, who didn’t need someone’s death to motivate her, who didn’t need someone to suffer for her to want to do what’s right.
Janet Van Dyne, who gave the Avengers their name.  I told myself, it would be worth it.  For Jan.
And then you pulled this.
I will not see Ant-Man.  I will not blog about your dumb ‘white boy pain’ movie.  You fridged one of the most iconic female super heroes in your canon, off-screen, to further manpain.
40+% of your audience for “Guardians of the Galaxy” was women.  And girls.  Little girls like my nieces, who deserve heroes of their own.  How sad that you’re determined not to give them to us.
Boycott Ant-Man.  That’s my tag.  Boycott Ant-Man.  Until we get Carol.  And Jennifer.  And Heather.  And Misty.  And Angela.  Until we get Monica.  And Patsy.  And Greer.  Until we get Sersi.  And Jessica.  And Kate.  And America.
Until we get females in your movies that aren’t killed to further a man’s path to heroism, because why else would we want to do the right thing?
Until we get Jan.
Boycott Ant-Man.

I am not going to watch this stupid movie. The only thing that would make this semi interesting is if Jan was in it and she’s notCompletely unacceptable

Restoring the normal full stop (period) in the tumblr logo

pumpkinskull:

canonicalmomentum:

canonicalmomentum:

This is inspired by a post by syntheticbaeddel, but it’s for anyone who doesn’t want the animated full stops/periods to show up.

First, install an extension to add custom user styles to websites, such as Stylish for Firefox or Chrome.

Second, you need to add this style:

@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain("www.tumblr.com") {
  .logo.has_dot .logo_anchor {
    background-image: url("https://www.tumblr.com/images/logo/logo.png");
  }
  .logo_dot {
    visibility: hidden;
  }
}

I put a copy on userstyles.org here so you can install it with one click.

With this style, whenever Tumblr decides to change the dot to some animated thing, you won’t see it. I don’t think this disables the mouseover text though.

Please let me know if this doesn’t work for any of you!

Apparently Tumblr’s done something ridiculous with the full stop again? (Though I’m not getting mouseover text so maybe not over here?)

Anyway, here’s how you can get rid of all that nonsense very easily.

you can also call it an ad and make adblocker plus block it (although then it just disappears, not restored to a full stop)

i know one of the Big Things w/ bpd is emotional intensity and there are definitely (definitely) times where i experience this but i find that most of the time i feel really vaguely or even not at all. like thats my baseline but when i really feel stuff its a lot more intense than it Should be and i am wondering if this is a thing that others experience too at all

yeah this is absolutely a thing I experience. I repress my emotions a lot (in an attempt to appear sane/functional/etc) the end result being that most of the time I don’t really feel anything at all. while I still do experience pretty wild mood swings, my baseline is absolutely feeling next to nothing, or like a tired dissociation. I’m also really bad at emotional reactions - like maybe something awful happens and it’s hard for me to be an appropriate level of upset about it. which can be very embarrassing and frustrating sometimes.

but anyway yeah this is a thing I experience too and if you ever wanted to talk about it i’d be more than happy to :)

Reminder that, while yes, some people with BPD have what might be termed hyper-empathy and can easy be affected and influenced by the emotions of those around them

Other people with BPD can have really impaired empathy.

Some might lack empathy.

And all of these are ok.

Please don’t erase the existence and experiences of people with BPD who have a different empathetic response than you do.

I understand that occasionally people want to bury the fact that impaired empathy can occur with BPD, for several reasons. Because it can scare people. Because it might tie into bad media tropes that further stigma. Because people want to put distance between BPD and other stigmatized personality disorders and go “we’re great, we’re so much better than those people over there, those guys are scary.”

But you’re not doing pwBPD who have impaired empathy any favors with this sort of erasure. Neither are you doing people with other personality disorders any favors if you give into the temptation to throw them under the bus in order to make pwBPD look better.

Please be mindful of the fact that different types of pwBPD exist.

Thanks,
A pwBPD with impaired empathy
